The Gift of Space

It's the holiday season!

Writer Oriah Mountain Dreamer (you can read the story behind her unique name here) reminds us that the word holidays comes from holy day. And she asks us to reflect on this question:

What if we treated holidays as holy days, days set aside and held open to allow the sacred to enter and feed our hearts and souls, days to leave ourselves open to the creative impulse?

I invite you to breathe amidst the busyness of this time of year, and give yourself the gift of space to allow the sacred to enter your soul and come forth through you in the form of creation.

Maybe you can write a poem, draw a picture, pen a letter, or paint a canvas.

💫Consider how you can nourish your creative spirit, and then go for it!

Here are a couple more invitations for us as a collective consciousness:

💫What if we stop using the language of 'naughty or nice' around Christmastime?

💫What if we instead give our children and ourselves the message of unconditional positive regard?

What if Mary Oliver's words from her poem "Wild Geese" can resonate in our souls at this time of year, and always?

You do not have to be good.

You do not have to walk on your knees

For a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.

You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.

➡️ Here's a link to my original song "Wild Geese" (based on the above poem by Mary Oliver) to remind you that...

You don't have to be anything more than what you are right now, on this holy day.

I wish you peace, health, love, and creativity this holiday season!
